Not much has been said of the 2014 Hawkes Bay wine growing season after the glowing reports of the year previous, but I believe it was warm and dry through the main harvesting time and this wine is testimony to that, showing intensity of colour (crimson red) and great fruit character even after 8 years in the bottle under cork. Tannins and fruit are nicely balanced with a long finish that you come to expect from Bordeaux style wine which makes a nice change from the fruit driven Aussie wines. |
