An orphan bottle found buried in the cellar, expectations were not high that this medium priced wine (at the time of purchase) would be much more than just drinkable. What a surprise! If it were served blind, one might have thought it 7-10 years of age, not 20. The colour was still a deep red with excellent fruit and a good balance of tannins and mineral flavour. The label says it will benefit with up to 10 years cellaring. I'd say that it still has at least another 5-10 years drinking at it's peak. The current vintage of this wine is 2021 and sells for A$26. Unfortunately, I can't find anyone in New Zealand that sells it. If you come across it, I'd recommend putting a few away out of sight. A reward could be in store! |
