Tyrrell's Rufus Stone Shiraz 2003

An orphan bottle found buried in the cellar, expectations were not high that this medium priced wine (at the time of purchase) would be much more than just drinkable. What a surprise! If it were served blind, one might have thought it 7-10 years of age, not 20. The colour was still a deep red with excellent fruit and a good balance of tannins and mineral flavour. The label says it will benefit with up to 10 years cellaring. I'd say that it still has at least another 5-10 years drinking at it's peak.

The current vintage of this wine is 2021 and sells for A$26. Unfortunately, I can't find anyone in New Zealand that sells it. If you come across it, I'd recommend putting a few away out of sight. A reward could be in store!
